Traffic Signs Warn Possible Dangers & Provide Information

Traffic signs help the road users to avoid accidents. These signs are divided into following categories:

Tanda amaran memberitahu anda bahawa mungkin ada bahaya di depan. Mereka biasanya dipaparkan secara simbolik dalam warna hitam pada papan berbentuk berlian. Contohnya: Tanda lebam menunjukkan lebam di jalan raya, jadi anda perlu memperlahankan kenderaan anda. Tanda lembu memberitahu anda mengenai kawasan menyeberang lembu. Pandu dengan berhati-hati.

Tanda lalu lintas larangan digunakan untuk melarang jenis manuver tertentu atau beberapa jenis lalu lintas. Di Malaysia, tanda wajib dipaparkan pada papan bulat berwarna biru dengan simbol putih. Tanda wajib untuk lebuh raya berwarna hijau.

Tanda maklumat di Malaysia adalah papan tanda jalan yang paling kerap digunakan di Malaysia dan biasanya digunakan di mana-mana jenis jalan untuk memberi pengguna maklumat jalan raya mengenai jalan yang mereka gunakan dan jalan di hadapan. Tanda-tanda ini dipaparkan pada papan berbentuk bulat berwarna biru atau hijau. Contohnya ialah papan tanda surau, telefon, atau tandas.
